Does nervousness keeps you back to introduce yourself in formal situations? In the real world, it may be a nightmare for a few people to introduce themselves. In order to avoid the situations, there are times when you ignore the person who is coming towards you.

Remember to get comfortable when you introduce yourself in formal situations. You can start your conversation with a formal ‘Hello’ and can go on with a handshake. Also, greeting are to your rescue! Most common greetings like ‘Good morning, Good afternoon and Good evening, Good day’ can be used.

After you have greeted the opposite person, you can ask some basic questions like:

  • How are you?
  • What brings you here?
  • Where are you from?

You can also complement the opposite person to make the atmosphere more comfortable and friendly. But, you will have to stay careful while complementing and be very careful while making a complement so as to not offend the opposite person. Avoid complimenting them about their physical appearance, their accent, etc. it might not create a good image of you, unless you have a good intention and you don’t want to taunt them. They might term it as over-friendly or they might think that you are going way too forward with it. 

Keep a few basic answers prepared as you can give good and confident answers when you are asked about something basic. Try keeping your answers short and simple, or else the opposite person may get bored. You will not make much mistakes when you keep your answers short and simple. You can also ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going!
